Clever Clogs Nurseries invest half a million pounds in two new sites
Posted: (l dS F)A local nursery chain is set to triple in size after acquiring two new North East nurseries and investing nearly £0.5m.
Andrea Townsley founded the Clever Clogs Day Nursery in Belmont, Durham in 2007 and has recently purchased two new nurseries making an investment of nearly £0.5m. The new nurseries, one in Hartlepool and the other in Bowburn, Durham are currently undergoing an extensive refurbishment and have been acquired in order to cater for the ever growing waiting list at Belmont Clever Clogs Nursery, which is now at capacity.
The two new Clever Clogs nurseries will follow the model and philosophies applied to the Belmont nursery which, in the latest OFSTED report in 2008, received two separate outstanding ratings within 12 months of opening. Belmont Clever Clogs has been such a success due to the dedication of Andrea and her belief that good leadership, vision and a passionate team is vital within a nursery. The aim is to get the two nurseries up to the same standard as Belmont as quickly as possible.
Clever Clogs employs 67 staff across all three nurseries and has the potential to bring even more jobs to the region with both of the new nurseries able to double their staff numbers when they reach capacity.
Andrea Townsley, founder of Clever Clogs Nurseries commented: “The decision to invest £0.5m in these two nursery sites will allow us to build on the success of the Belmont Clever Clogs. All of the Clever Clogs nursery team are required to further their qualifications and support their own development and as a minimum, all of our staff are at least NVQ Level 3 qualified. We work hard to create an atmosphere where children can be happy and have a head start to their personal development in a stimulating environment.
“We had found that parents had been travelling from all over the Durham area to place their children at Belmont Clever Clogs and therefore it is fantastic that we are now able to offer a choice of nurseries to parents. As a parent of young children myself, I understand how difficult it can be to leave your child at nursery and so at Clever Clogs we do our upmost to create a “home away from home” for the children. We have created a caring, happy and safe environment for the children at our nurseries and even take school age children to school as well as picking them up after school where necessary, allowing parents with children of different ages to go to work without any worries.”
